Condor Watch Talk

All ravens and no condors

  • mboschmd by mboschmd

If this study is all about condors, why make us go through the laborious process of classifying 15-20 ravens per photograph? It really feels peripheral to the stated mission, and a lot like busy work...there's so many ravens, I'll get carpal tunnel syndrome by the end (a little hyperbolic, but point made)

Yes, we recognize the raven photos are time consuming - sorry about that! We are working on a change that will hopefully make these photos go much faster. We want data on the other animals at the feeding stations as currently we have no data on how often other species (such as ravens) use the feeding stations compared to condors. As one of our interests is to understand how much of these carcasses are eaten by condors, having a better understanding of how much are eaten by other species is important. So, stay tuned for the change we are working on and in the meantime know that we do think the raven data is important. thank you for your participation!
