Unreadable tag

  If you can only see part of the tag, should you still ID it? I mean if you can only seen one number, or a part of a number, should you guess or not?

  I've seen people discussing just that. I don't think it'll hurt if you mark only part of the number

  Yes, please ID what you can. Because we know when the pictures were taken and where we are able to know all the possible individuals that might be in a given photo. Therefore, we may still ID individuals even with incomplete data. So give it your best shot!

  Is there a preferred method of indicating an incomplete number? e.g. I tried (-)4 or 2(-). Does this work for you or will it transpose into something other? Perhaps X4 might be better?

  I don't think it matters much which other sign you use. Just record the partial number. 😄
